Where we are
On 13 August 2026 the working group announced that its offer for the Bottom Pub was unsuccessful and the property was under contract. A co-operative formation meeting was scheduled for 23 August 2026; this archive does not record whether it went ahead or what it decided. The Bottom Pub Project is now concluded. What the record leaves behind
The archive preserves the central unresolved questions rather than pretending the campaign answered them:
- What does Cygnet most need from a community-owned enterprise?
- Could a durable governance and operating model be assembled?
- What should a future community effort learn from this attempt?
Final disposition
There is no next project stage on this site. Expressions of interest, pledges and surveys are closed. The campaign archive remains available and includes the working group's post-mortem. The contact form remains open for corrections, research and questions about the archive.
What the survey found
The community survey's first round was analysed as a snapshot of 32 of the 34 submissions received between 3 June and 23 July 2026 (one confirmed test submission and one duplicate excluded). The survey is now closed. A disclosure-safe brief of what people said — what they valued, what they wanted changed, and what they hoped the place could become — is published as What Cygnet told us. It carries counts and themes only: no names, no contact details, and no quoted responses.
